A marble statue of the Virgin Mary, crated and delivered on a pallet, had to be set on a concrete pad in the back yard of a house. The pad was already poured, under a tree, at the far end of the lawn.
The problem is not the weight. It is getting a forklift across somebody's lawn and driveway without leaving ruts and cracks. We laid mats and steel plates the whole way and moved on them, a few feet at a time. Then we uncrated the statue, slung it in straps, walked it in, and set it down.
This is not machinery, but it is the same job: a heavy, fragile, expensive thing that has to end up in one exact spot, in a place that was never built for a forklift.
