Machinery Movers & Scrap Pickup in Lombard, IL

Lombard is a bustling residential town, mostly full of falafel shops, car mechanics and chiropractors. However, it also has a nice industrial area to the west of North Avenue, which is our feeding grounds with several permanent clients and a frequent supply of one-off jobs.

One of our clients is a big metal forming company making large bowl-like objects. We go there to install new machines that they buy, as well as pick up end-of-life, obsolete machinery for scrap that they no longer need. We picked up several 100,000 lbs vertical forming presses, and more.

The machine shops, frequently owned by aging Polish machinists, typically have accumulated old machinery from the 1980s and 1990s, which these resourceful owners maintained and kept going way beyond what these superb Okuma, Mazak, and other machines were designed to do. But everything good comes to an end: either the owner retires (these guys do NOT want to retire until health forces them to), or until the machine finally falls apart. This is where we come in, always ready to pick up heavy equipment professionally.

The last scrap job was like that: the owner's son liquidating the business, was exasperated by wannabe Facebook "scrappers" who wanted to pick up a 15,500 lbs Mighty Comet CNC machine with tiny forklifts. It sounds like a joke, but it is actually a typical story of Facebook ignorance, hubris, and waste of time. I offered him to pick the machine up at no charge and, after exhausting his "Facebook scrapper" options he agreed.
